Unico Zelo, Truffle Hound 2022

Unico Zelo was founded by husband-wife team, Brendan & Laura Carter, two winemakers who wanted to shine a spotlight on the incredible soil, terroir and potential of cool-climate Australian wine. They have vineyards throughout the Adelaide Hills, and are making some of Australia's best and downright coolest wines we've seen in a while. Made from a blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera, Truffle Hound 2022 is bright and slender but still with some muscle. Medium-bodied, it opens on juicy mulberry, wild blueberry, and plum. A rush of scrubby herbs, smoky liquorice, and cardamom spice follows, lending earthy intrigue and an amaro-like edge. . Soft, finely grained tannins and lifted acidity animate the palate, while a stony, savoury finish lingers with subtle grip. Elegant, fun, and full of personality - drink over the next 3–5 years.
